Liebherr and Deere Sign Dozer Exclusivity Deal (2004-9-6)

Liebherr Construction Equipment Co. via Liebherr-Werk Telfs and John Deere Construction & Forestry Division have announced an agreement to end their current dual-branding strategy for large crawler dozers sold in the North American market and to grant John Deere an exclusivity agreement for these products. Under an agreement signed in December 2000, Liebherr has provided large crawler dozers and crawler loaders under both the Liebherr and John Deere brands. The new agreement will grant John Deere exclusivity for the two large Deere crawler dozers, the 234 hp model 950C and the 330 hp model 1050C. This agreement contains specific market goals for the John Deere-branded large crawler dozers, and as a result, Liebherr will discontinue marketing the comparable PR 742 and PR 752 models in North America, except for mining applications. Daewoo Heavy workers to sign bid pact with investment partner (2004-9-8)

Employees of Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery Ltd. expect to sign an agreement this week to bid for a stake in the company with an investor group led by the owner of the nation\'s No. 3 mobile-phone carrier, labor representatives said. Two worker groups expect to sign a memorandum of understanding within this week with a group formed by Park Byeong-yeop, vice chairman and the largest shareholder of Pantech & Curitel Communication Co., they said. "Although we cannot say the exact date, the signing will be within this week. With the partners, we will submit a letter of the intent by Sept. 14 to buy (a stake in) our company," said Kim Youn-hwan, leader of the employee group. ArvinMeritor CFO to take early retirement (2004-9-9)

Auto parts maker ArvinMeritor Inc. on Wednesday said its chief financial officer, Carl Soderstrom, would take early retirement at the end of the year.No reason was given for Soderstrom\'s departure, but the Troy, Michigan, company said it was "by mutual agreement." The company has hired executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to find a replacement.Soderstrom, an 18-year veteran of the company, has been CFO since July 2001. … Continue reading

ArvinMeritor Expands in Eastern Europe with Dedication of New Poland Plant (2004-9-9)

ArvinMeritor, Inc. unveiled a new Light Vehicle Systems (LVS) Customer Value Center (CVC) in Swarzedz, Poland, today with a dedication ceremony for customers, government officials and the media. The new 1,000-square-meter CVC will serve as final assembler of more than 200,000 door modules a year for the Volkswagen Caddy, which will be produced in Poznan, Poland."We are proud to dedicate this facility as a demonstration of ArvinMeritor\'s strategy to grow its LVS business through the development and delivery of technically advanced door systems and modules," said Robert Marty, vice president and general manager of ArvinMeritor\'s LVS Door Systems. Sales of Construction Machinery in Japan increased (2004-9-9)

The statistics released by Japan Construction Machinery Industry Association show that the sales of construction machinery in July reached 129.4 billion Yen, 15.1% up. Up to now, the sales has enjoyed year-on-year increase for 22 months in a row.The statistics also show that domestic sales totalled 53.9 billion Yen in July, with an increase of 8.6% than that of last July.With regard to export, due to the tighter monetary policy of Chinese Government, the export to China dropped in 4 consecutive months.
