MAN Selected For British Military Truck Program (2004-10-13)

The U.K. Ministry of Defence has selected Germany\'s MAN as the preferred bidder for its Support Vehicle Program. The ultimate contract will cover more than 5000 vehicles as well as whole-life support for 20 years plus options for additional vehicles. Vulcan to Sell Chemicals Business (2004-10-15)

Vulcan Materials Company announced today that it has reached an agreement to sell the assets of its chemicals business, known as Vulcan Chemicals, to Basic Chemical Company, LLC, a subsidiary of Occidental Chemical Corporation. The consideration to be received by Vulcan for the business consists of cash, contingent future payments under two earnouts, and the assumption of certain liabilities by the purchaser. The assets of Vulcan Chemicals consist of chloralkali plants in Wichita, Kansas, Geismar, Louisiana and Port Edwards, Wisconsin. The sale also includes the assets of Vulcan Chemicals\' joint venture located in Geismar."Our focus is strategic growth in aggregates and related businesses," said Vulcan\'s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Donald M. Cat Forms Power and Specialty Divisions (2004-10-14)

Caterpillar Inc. has announced a restructuring resulting in two new divisions. The new divisions will focus on electrical power generation and specialty products. Willian J. Rohner, has been named a Caterpillar vice president to lead the new Electric Power Division, while current Vice President Donald G. Western will assume responsibility for the new Specialty Industries Division. Robert T. Williams has been named a Caterpillar vice president, replacing Western as leader of the Track-Type Tractors Division. All three moves are effective December 1, 2004.The Electric Power Division will include the global design, packaging and marketing responsibilities for Caterpillar electric power generation products, including U.S. operations in Illinois and Georgia and international operations in Northen Ireland, India, China and Brazil. The Electric Power Division will include products branded with the FG Wilson, Olympian and Caterpillar names. Cummins PG, Fermont Finalists For Military Gen-Set Program (2004-10-16)

Cummins Power Generation, Fridley, Minn. a division of Cummins Inc. and Fermont, Bridgeport, Conn., a subsidiary of Engineered Support Systems, Inc., have been selected by the United States Army as the two companies to design mobile power generation units. The award is for the first phase of the AMMPS (Advanced Medium-sized Mobile Power Sources) program, the next generation of Tactical Quiet Generators, which will begin in the fourth quarter of 2004 with both companies creating independent prototypes.Phase I of the AMMPS program includes the development of military generator sets to be utilized by all branches of America\'s military.
