Eaton Completes Purchase of Winner Group Holdings, Ltd. (2005-4-2)
Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced that it completed its purchase of the businesses of Winner Group Holdings Ltd., a China-based company that produces hydraulic hose fittings and adapters for the greater Chinese market. The transaction was announced in November 2004.Winner is based in Hong Kong with operations in mainland China in Shanghai, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Luzhou. It primarily serves the Chinese market with products used in stationary and mobile construction equipment applications. Winner employs about 750 people.Eaton Corporation is a diversified industrial manufacturer with 2004 sales of $9.8 billion. MAN Gets $1.9 Billion British Military Truck Deal (2005-4-4)
Germany\'s MAN AG said it received an order from Britain\'s defense ministry to supply it with 5200 heavy trucks through 2013. The deal, worth € 1.5 billion ($1.9 billion), calls for the Munich-based truck manufacturer to supply the vehicles for the British military from 2007 to 2013 with an option to sell another 2100 trucks, the company said. Britain\'s defense ministry said in October that MAN was its preferred bidder on the contract, one of the biggest single vehcile contracts there in 25 years. GM Delivers Fuel Cell Truck to Army (2005-4-4)
General Motors Corp. and the U.S. Army today announced they are partnering to introduce the world\'s first fuel cell-powered truck into U.S. military service. The U.S. Army took delivery of the crew cab pickup at the GM research facility outside of Rochester, NY, where the vehicle\'s two fuel cell power modules were made.The modified Chevrolet Silverado is equipped with two 94 KW fuel cell stacks, capable of generating 188 KW and 317 foot-pounds of torque, or roughly the motor torque generated by GM\'s 5.3 liter V-8 engine. The Army will evaluate the experimental truck until July 2006 at an Army base in Ft. Belvoir, Va. The vehicle will be used to deliver packages but will not be used in combat. Volvo Trucks, UAW Reach Tentative Agreement (2005-4-4)
Volvo Trucks North America said that the company and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative agreement on terms of new three-year agreements that would cover approximately 2800 UAW members at the New River Valley plant in Dublin, Va. Topcon Positioning Systems, Livermore, Calif., announces a strategic alliance with Komatsu America Corp. An agreement between the two corporations was signed on Jan. 25,2005. It specifies that Topcon will provide automated machine control system as a purchase option on Komatsu motor graders and bulldozers. Hyundai Heavy Industries won $35 million in orders at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2005 (2005-3-24)
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has won $35 million in orders to supply 400 units of construction equipment abroad at the Conexpo 2005, a convention for the construction and construction materilas industries, held in Las Vegas.Th HHI\'s construction equipment division said it showcased 20 units of its mainstream models of excavators, wheel loaders, skid loaders and forklifts during this exposition.The Conexpo, held every three years, is one of the most reputable construction expositions, along with Bauma in Germany and Intermart in France.
