Volvo aims for an almost seven-fold increase in annual sales in China. China\’s steel output up 23.7 percent in 1st quarter (2005-4-11)
China\'s steel output climbed by 23.7% percent to 77.7 million tons in the first three months of this year, said an official here on Saturday.Jia Yinsong, deputy director of the economic operation bureau under the State Development and Reform Commission, said in the first three months, Chinese companies also produced 72.57 million tons of iron, up 27.3 percent, and 82.53 million tons of rolled steel, up 22.4 percent.The total steel production capacity might reach 322 million tons this year, nearly 50 million or 18.4 percent more than last year, said Jia.Although the steel sector still takes the lead in the whole secondary industry, steel and iron production is facing increasingly tough conditions as the prices of major raw materials are rising by a big margin and the supply of coal, electricity and fuel remain tight amid a lack of transportation capacity, he said.(From xinhuanet.com) … Continue reading

Komatsu eyes higher sales of forklifts (2005-4-11)
Driven by the steadily growing logistics businesses and manufacturing sector, the overall forklift market will expand by 21% to 2,800 units this year.Phornthep Phornprapha, president of Bangkok Motor Works Co, the authorised distributor of Komatsu forklifts in Thailand, said sales of Komatsu forklifts were targeted to reach 550 units this year, up from 453 units sold last year, raising its market share to 20% from 19% of the total 2,318 units sold last year.Komatsu forklifts became the second best-selling after Toyota\'s.Direct sales will be applied to reach out to more customers.
