New Marine Diesel JV Launched in Shanghai (2005-7-8)

The Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. has launched a marine diesel engine joint venture in Shanghai with the China State Shipbuilding Corp. and the Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. of Japan, according to an announcement by HHMC. The three sides signed the joint venture contract on July 5. The announcement said the venture will be capable of producing one million hp of marine diesel engines by 2007 and three million hp by 2014, when it is totally completed.The joint venture has a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan ($US144.9 million) and a registered capital of 480 million yuan, with CSSC holding 15% of the stake, HHMC, 51%, and MSC, the rest 34%. Military Backhoe Order For Case (2005-7-11)

Case Corp. announced that it has received a five-year contract valued at over $50 million from the U.S. Army for more than 500 High Mobility Engineer Excavator (HMEE) Type III backhoe loaders. Delivery will begin in 2006, with completion set for 2010. Customized to meet unique Army requirements, these Case HMEE Type III machines are 14 ft. class backhoe loaders that incorporate features and technology from the Case M Series 2, such as pilot controls, Ride Control and Pro Control hydraulic system.Case has earned several other U.S. military contracts in recent months, with a combined value of more than $36 million. These include the remanufacture of 400 Case MW24C wheel loaders to original equipment specifications for the U.S. Army National Guard, the refurbishing (RESET) of 100 Case MW24C wheel loaders to fully mission-capable standards for the U.S. Army, and the re-powering of 500 Case M4K forklifts for the U.S. Army. M&M to enter Pakestan tractor mart via China (2005-7-12)

Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), India\'s largest tractors maker, is planning to export tractors to Pakistan through its Chinese joint venture Mahindra (China) Tractor Co.M&M took less than five weeks to roll out the first tractor at the Chinese joint company after its formal acquisition. Based at Nanchang, capital of Jiangxi province, the company has an annual production capacity of 12,000 tractors. The company has joint ventures with Ford and Isuzu.Anjanikumar Choudhari, president, farm equipment sector, M&M and a member of the company\'s management board, said:"The company will cater to the Chinese market as well export to America, Australia and India. Export to Pakistan is a possibility.
