Caterpillar up on energy, durable goods (2005-8-26)

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Caterpillar Inc. and other equipment makers moved higher Thursday, following predictions of increased spending by energy companies and one day after durable goods orders for machinery showed a rise from a year ago.Prices for oil, coal and natural gas are all up in 2005, lifting cash flow for companies in the mining and exploring industries. That in turn should drive capital spending for heavy duty machines from Caterpillar, Joy Global Inc. and others, said UBS analyst David Blustein.UBS raised its target price for Caterpillar (CAT: news, chart, profile) to $65 from $62, maintaining a buy rating; Joy Global\'s (JOYG: news, chart, profile) price target went to $41 from $38 while its neutral rating remained intact. G Sany today announced 2005 half year\'s report. Reflected with macroeconomic control, the income and net profit within this reporting period of the company have been down, but the prospective prediction is optimistic.In the first half of 2005, G Sany\'s operating income was RMB 1272 million, down 18.77% compared with the same period of last year; main operating profit RMB449 million, down 9.26% compared with the same period of last year; net profit RMB158 million, down 22.61% compared with the same period of last year. Xiamen Eng\’g Machinery Becomes China\’s Top Loader Supplier (2005-8-26)

Xiamen Engineering Machinery Co., Ltd., which is based in the port city of Xiamen in southeast China, has surpassed the Liuzhou Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. based in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to become the largest supplier of loaders in China this year, the company said. Loaders are the flagship product of the company. In the first half of this year, the company produced more than 10,000 loaders and sold 9,497 units, up 13.32 per cent year on year.
