Cummins and Shaanxi Group Form JV to Produce Heavy-Duty Engines (2005-9-17)

Cummins Inc. and China\'s Shaanxi Automobile Group Company Ltd. today signed an agreement to form a 50/50 joint venture company, Xi\'an Cummins Engine Company (XCEC), to produce the Cummins ISM 11-liter heavy-duty engine in Xi\'an, the capital city of western China\'s Shaanxi Province. ADVERTISEMENT The ISM is one of the flagship engines of Cummins heavy-duty product line. In addition to proven fuel economy and dependability, the ISM meets the toughest emission standards worldwide. Doosan Heavy Industries Exports Nuclear Plant Equipment To U.S. (2005-9-19)

Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co. said Monday that it has exported US$50 million worth of nuclear power plant equipment to the United States.The four steam generator units manufactured by Doosan are for the Watts Bar nuclear power plant in Spring City, Tennessee, it said. The company said a roll-out ceremony was held at its plant in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, with representatives of the Tennessee Valley Authority, the operator of Watts Bar plant, in attendance."High oil prices are raising the need to refurbish old nuclear reactors, which is creating a market for new equipment," a Doosan official said. He said the exports to Watts Bar should help the company secure future orders for key parts in the U.S.The U.S. power plant, which has a capacity to generate 1,254 megawatts of electricity, is more than 20 years old, and there has been a call to update its facilities.
