Cummins Engine wins $206,466 contract (2005-9-21)
Cummins Engine Co. of Memphis announced another U.S. Army deal Tuesday. The company has been awarded a $206,466 contract to make non-aircraft engine cooling system components for the U.S. Army\'s Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command of Warren, Mich. The deal means the Memphis manufacturer has been awarded almost $9 million in contracts from the Tank-Automotive & Armaments Command so far this year. Cummins Engine was awarded a $26,772 contract to make packing and gasket materials and a $202,128 contract to produce non-aircraft engine fuel system components last month. In August, Cummins announced it is expanding in Memphis, creating 65 new jobs with an annual median wage of $30,680. The positions will go to expand operations at the company\'s two Memphis facilities at 4155 Quest Way and 2682 Pershing Road. Cummins Engine Co. currently employs 1,085 people here. Diesel engine maker Cummins Inc\’s growth in China (2005-9-21)
Diesel engine maker Cummins Inc. expects record results this year and next, and predicts sales in both China and India will more than double by 2010, the company\'s chief executive said on Tuesday. Cummins now has about $1.1 billion in total sales generated in China and about $700 million in India. Total sales include revenue from both wholly-owned businesses and joint ventures. Tim Solso, who was named CEO at Cummins in 2000, told the Reuters Auto Summit in Detroit he expects total sales in China to reach $2.5 to $3 billion by 2010. In India, he sees consolidated and unconsolidated sales totaling $1.5 billion in the same time period. "India and China (are) the largest single growth opportunity that Cummins has," Solso said. Komatsu Plans to Open Russian Plant (2005-9-21)
Japan\'s No. 1 manufacturer of earthmoving equipment is already in a joint venture with Ivanovo-based Kraneks. Komatsu, Japan\'s No. 1 manufacturer of construction equipment, said on Tuesday that it was planning to set up a production facility in Russia."Komatsu Ltd. has plans to open a machine-building or a component-making facility in Russia," the company\'s Moscow office, Komatsu CIS Co., said in a statement.Earlier on Monday, Bloomberg cited a Komatsu executive as saying that Komatsu was planning to invest 3 billion yen ($27 million) into a Russian plant, most likely near Moscow or St. Petersburg. Doosan Infracore Co., formerly Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery Co., said Wednesday it has clinched orders of machine tools worth US$65 million at an exhibition in Germany.At the EMO 2005 international machine tool exhibition, which was held from Sept. 14-21 in Hanover, Doosan received the orders from foreign companies including Rolls-Royce plc, Finnish and Dutch firms, it said.The company plans to raise exports by 45 per cent annually to $420 million this year.It also plans to post sales of 50 trillion won ($49.9 billion) in 2015 to become one of the leading machinery makers in the world.Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery was renamed Doosan Infracore after a consortium led by Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. bought a controlling 51 per cent stake in the company in late April.(source:yahoo) … Continue reading

ExxonMobil, Cat Extend Supply Deal (2005-9-22)
Exxon Mobil Corp. said it has reached a five-year agreement to supply Caterpillar Inc. with lubricants for its construction equipment. Financial terms were not disclosed. The oil giant has supplied private label lubricants to Caterpillar since 1987. On the 14th China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair, Russian delegation discussed with China about the road construction from Altay leading to Xinjiang.
