Saez to launch new tower crane (2006-4-11)

Spanish manufacturer Saez Cranes is planning to release a new 300tm tower crane model before the end of the year. Export manager Juan Marttez Gracia told Cranes Today that the company is currently working with engineers to finalise plans for production. The prototypes and designs remain private.The first Saez crane appeared more than 40 years ago. Since then the company has extended its name all around Spain and many other countries. It claims to be the major Spanish tower crane manufacturer, with an annual production of 1,500 cranes.As part of the GFS Industrial Group, the firm employs nearly 700 workers and boasts four manufacturing plants in the Region of Murcia and has a large distribution network at a national and international level.Rental house London Tower Crane Hire and Sales is showing cranes made by Saez, for whom it is an appointed dealer, at Site Equipment Demonstration (SED) at the Rockingham Performance… Continue reading

New study dissects UK crane industry (2006-4-11)

Industry analyst Plimsoll Publishing has released a new study on the UK crane industry. It concluded that a number of driving forces seem to be affecting the industry at the same time, forcing current owners to consider their future involvement in the market.Interesting issues tackled within the study include:The age of the owners. A third of directors are now over 60-years-old.The direction of the market. For 37% of companies, sales did not keep pace with inflation.The pressure on profitability because of rising costs. Some 75% of companies suffered a fall in profitability.Succession management. Next generation involvement in the industry is an issue at the 29 companies incorporated before 1970.Some 30% of directors are under 50-years-old, evidence of the new blood that has entered.A total of 20 companies have improved sales by 15% or better in the last three years.Some 49 companies have increased profitability in the last year.A total of 77… Continue reading

Thomas Equipment Ships Its First Private-Labeled Telescopic Handler to Asian OEM (2006-4-11)

Kranbau Eberswalde delivers new cranes (2006-4-12)

German manufacturer Kranbau Eberswalde has delivered two new gantry slewing cranes to a major Russian shipyard in St Petersburg.The more powerful of the two cranes - Admiral 100 - has a maximum lifting capacity of 100t and a maximum radius of 63m. However, with the auxiliary hoist of 16t, a radius of 66m can be reached. This crane will be used on the slipway of a shipbuilding yard.The smaller crane - Admiral 50 - has a maximum lifting capacity of 50t for the main hoist and a maximum radius of 45m. Kalmar establishes new South African subsidiary (2006-4-12)

Kalmar Industries has established its own subsidiary company in South Africa for the sale and service of straddle carriers and rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTGs). The company, which will be known as Kalmar Industries South Africa (Pty) Ltd, will have headquarters in Durban.Edwin Briggeman has been appointed head of the new company and is in charge of overseeing the ongoing deliveries of the straddle carriers ordered by the South African Port Operations (SAPO), the terminal operating subsidiary of South Africa\'s transportation conglomerate Transnet.Briggeman will also be responsible for the start-up of the new company and the further development of customer relations with SAPO. Aman Kumkaran has been appointed technical manager in Durban. ZPMC delivers five quay cranes to Holland (2006-4-12)

Holland-based APM Terminals Zeebrugge has taken delivery of five of the world\'s largest super post-panamax quay cranes - manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd. (ZPMC) - in preparation for the opening of the new container terminal later this year.APM Terminals Zeebrugge managing director Rob Boer said: "With the new quay cranes we will be able to service the newest and largest container vessels in the world."The cranes have a lifting capacity of 100t for heavy lift loads and can lift two containers at a time.
